What’s happening with SaDARA!

Hello everyone here is an update on what we have planned this year so far and we hope you all are looking forward to our future as a club as much as we are.

Meet and Greet: 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 31st. @ Saskatchewan Aviation Museum 5 Hangar Road, Saskatoon, SK S7L5X4. Hangar Road is accessed via 47th Street from Avenue C North (turning opposite the RCAF Memorial Park parking lot), or from Wheaten Avenue off of 45th Street West. We will supply the coffee, donuts and bottled water, you supply the questions and a mask as we will still be encouraging mask use for now.

Annual General Meeting: Thursday, April 21st at 7:30 P.M. this is an online meeting Saskatoonand District Amateur Radio Association | Jitsi Meet

Topics besides standard AGM requirements will be: Club Secretary is still needed as Ron Ford is still in the “temporary” position since the club formation.

2022 Field Day: Saturday and Sunday, June 25th and 26th. This is the big day folks, we will once again be out at Ron Watson’s farm out highway 219 looking to make contacts and make friends while enjoying this wonderful hobby and finishing off with a great meal and interaction.

Radio Day In The Park: Saturday, July 9th tentatively scheduled for Meewasin Park on Spadina crescent  This is a fun event where club members can bring out some equipment to demonstrate to the public and encourage them to take up this incredible hobby. If you have a portable station for HF or Satellite and would be willing to help out by activating it at the park please contact Dave Weigel at ve5iv@sasktel.net to let us know.

Aviation Days:  Last weekend in August, 27th and 28th and 29th at the Saskatchewan Aviation Museum ( see above for location) we are hoping to tie in with their event to put up a display and hopefully have a couple CW operators that can demonstrate by encouraging children to sent messages to another location within the museum either through radio or a CW oscillator etc.

A club such as ours is only as strong as its involvement in society and within its organization through participation.

Enhancement to the 146.640 (VE5SK) Repeater

As many of you are aware, we have been experiencing noise/interference problems with the VE5SK (146.640) repeater.  In order to address this problem SaDARA will be placing a 100 Hz tone on the repeater to keep it running smoothly for the benefit of all amateurs.  This enhancement will happen in about a month’s time. Assistance will be available to any amateur that requires help setting up their radio to take advantage of this enhancement.
